Omar is doing a fine job as our lead-off hitter and has suddenly exposed the 2-Spot as being the most important spot in the line-up that is not producing.
Be it either a double-play, a caught stealing where the number-2 guy doesn't even swing at the pitch to slow the catcher down, or just a plain failure to get the lead-off hitter over to second, the two spot is our achilles heel.
This problem has just been created in the last two weeks. I think we would all agree that Lawton batting third is strong, Thome in fourth is strong, and Burks batting fifth is strong. Omar in the first spot is strong....
Yet game after game, we barely score ANY runs.
Now I know the bottom four positions have fallen off the map in terms of producing runs ever since Milton Bradley went down and Travis, Einar, Branyan and Jolbert have floundered.
But if our number two guy is doing his job, we would not be falling behind every game then struggling to catch up.

Well, Cholly hasn't figured this out yet -- that Ricky G. is the greatest rally-killer in baseball.
When they walk Omar to get to you, you're not doing the job.
Cholly's thinking, "Well, uhh, he's our second baseman now, so we have to pretend that he can hit like Robbie Alomar."
I guess we should be grateful that he's not batting Ricky 3rd.

I don't mind Ricky in the 7th or 8th spot.

Make that the 8th or 9th spot!
