Yeh, and the ASIO drivers don't work...
Still get the message 'The ASIO driver could not be started' even after disabling V-Space.
Please give me some of your experiences with the (new) ASIO drivers, because I think Terratec is miles away from proper ASIO drivers...

Dammit, anybody else with this problem:

After updating to newest drivers, MIDI-2 reports:

"This devices CD4232LD.VXD device loading program cannot load this devices driver (code 2).

Update drivers to solve this problem by clicking update driver."

No use, uninstalling nor updating didn't solve this. I reported this to terratec, but as U can guess, no reply... gotta uninstall and use older drivers, atleast those worked.

    Wink

Aw man now I do feel lame!

After reading terratecs FAQ pages, my question was already question n. 63.

Well, at least now I remember what RTFM means wink.

Those who experience same problems; _ENABLE_ codec BEFORE installing new drivers! That causes much less pain if U know what I mean... after installing, back to ews64cfg and disable codec...

    Thumbs up

Yes, it's really amazing, isn't it? Finally, years after the first release of the EWS64XL, Terratec most proudly presents ASIO drivers for it! And not as a beta version, no sir! This time, it's a "release candidate", whatever the difference may be!
Wow! Give them a couple of years more, and they'll release a definitive version! Hopefully bug-free then, cause the "release candidate" still has a tiny, little problem: it doesn't get recognized by VST host applications (in other words, it's completely useless!)
    Peace
    Gon

    Just solved the Asio-drivers problem:
Went to the shop and bought CreamWare's PowerSampler, it has Asio 2drivers, supports GSIF (GigaSampler) has a brilliant buid-in sampler (Akai, wav, aif and its own format) and last but not least, is a brilliant 8 channel 16/24 bit soundcard. Then I went home, opened the computer, took the EWS64XL out and built the PowerSampler in and... everything works fine. Latency = 3-24 msec.
Goodbye to everyone in this forum, wish you the best.
    Peace
    Gon

    Hi Arnoud.
I don't think that money solves the most difficult problems and apart from that, the PowerSampler doesn't cost more money than the EWS64XL did when I purchased it. I've been using the EWS64XL for a long time and was quite happy with it, at least with the hardware (the software, specially the drivers, have never come to a really satisfying stage, in my opinion). Now my time for a change has come and after using the EWS64XL for some years, I feel free and competent enough to criticise it's weak points and to compare it to PowerSampler which, amongst others, has all those features that made the EWS64XL interesting for musicians, but is a whole lot more modern and has 100% working software.
    Keep groovin'
    Gon
    P.S. Peace
