Texas A&M, Florida State, and the SEC

Any truth these two are going to the SEC? I've also heard VT's name floated around.

VT will only be an option if they go to 16 or if something falls apart IMO. It doesnt have the TV draw to be worth the SEC bringing them in right now. Theres definitely some smoke to this, but I don't know how much fire there is. A&M wants in I do believe, and FSU might too, but I believe Foley has to be going to Slive and doing whatever possible to block FSUs move into the SEC.

Apparently aTm to the SEC is a done deal. Report: Texas A&M is leaving the Big 12 to join to SEC and three more schools may follow suit - College Football News | FOX Sports on MSN

ESPNs reporting aTm is in while Clemson,FSU, and Mizzou are likely. Mizzou wtf I know, but I dont hate it if they had to expand (which they didnt, but oh well).

VT, wtf? Whats the deal with this? Did the SEC not express serious interest?

FSU and/or Clemson won't get the votes necessary for inclusion.

Much rather see FSU and Clemson than VT. BUt just A&M is pretty big deal. Didnt Clemson used to be in the SEC? May not have just always thought they had for some reason.

Just came across The Lead ticker on ESPN that A&M is in......and that the SEC is likely to pursue Clemson, FSU and Missouri.

And the great conference expansions start.

Re: Texas A&M, Florida State, and the SEC

VT will not be a part of the SEC, whether they have an invitation or not...the idea was floated to VT from SEC reps around this time last year and VT said they weren't interested...I suspect, and I'm hearing, that the same will be said if there is an informal invitation sent again

Maryland is open to joining the Big Te(levetwelvefourtee)n as well

ACC will look to either combine with Big East football schools or just take a couple they want (Syracuse, WVU, Louisville, etc)

also...it will come out soon that ACC commissioner Swofford had knowledge of UNC's transgression WHILE it was going on, and he will have to step down

Just curious as to why you would rather have Clemson and A&M instead of VT? The last 10+ years VT has been a lot better program than either of them.

FWIW though I'm not a big fan of having more than 12 teams in a conference.

he's a UT fan and hates VT, that's his only reasoning...

That might be his reasoning, but that's not anyone with a brains reasoning. This whole thing isnt about making the SEC stronger. It's not about who wins more. They don't need that. It's about TV markets. The Dallas, San Antonio, and other Texas markets is the reason they want A&M. Same thing for Missou. A&M has almost 90,000 fans in the stands every Saturday, a huge national alumni base, and more history. I personally hope the SEC stays at 12, but I have no problem with a team like A&M coming in.
