The reason for the reluctance of adding anyone to those boards came when one poster who was banned several times and kept creating new accounts kept derailing the board. They were making 50 different threads an hour and trying to turn everyone of them into a e-battle. It was a good idea at the time.

Personally though, I do not think having these threads in the Non Sports Forum is a bad thing. Gives everyone a chance to chime in or at least read, and I don't think theres anything wrong with that. I requested to get access to the Old Timers forum a week ago. I still have not been given access. It must be a place where people go to talk about people like us. lol

You have to be Known off-line by someone on the board and they MUST vouch for you

You're the one missing the point bro...

Most people on here who pay even a little attention knew there was a Religion board and a Politics board when they were created, and back then, we let everyone know if they wanted access to those discussions to let us know and we'd grant it--because we'd be moving Political discussions to the Politics board to keep the clutter off the Non-Sports Board. Everyone knew that back then, and we cinch it up a little tighter during election time, as far as moving stuff from Non-Sports to Politics that belongs in Politics.

There are more people that don't want to see the political discussions clogging up the Non-Sports board as opposed to those who want to discuss these topics--but enough demand for political content that we created a board for it. It keeps the more controversial issues over there and allows for conversation that's a little more free & honest than it would be if we had to moderate it on the Non-Sports board...so it's improved discussion on those topics while keeping clutter down on the Non-Sports board where others may not want to read about politics. That's a win-win scenario.

That was the logic behind it, not to be Gestapo-ish and "deny people access".

I think you missed the point too, those boards should just be standard just like sports forum, and non-sports forum. If people don't wanna see it, they don't have to go there but it should be available for everyone from the beginning without people having to request access to it. Not saying that the "denied access" was because of any particular biased reason, just that several on here one day was trying to get access and it took several hours to get. I would think that politics are a hot topic these days.

I can see the logic for having it in a different section. So that you don't clutter up the ever so busy non sports forum, the one that goes hours and hours sometimes without a single post. So maybe thats a little unnecessary too, but I can at least agree with that.

Biggest reason we did it, was so that people didn't have a string of boards going half way down the page. They weren't specialized at first, it was more of a cosmetic thing at first. The requesting access was done for the point of trying to keep 12 year olds from getting on there, when we know that 2 things you can't discuss with most adults, let alone kids, is politics and religion.

It's basically done to try and keep the good religious and political debates from turning into "you're a poopie head" issues.
