WinISD says LE8T-H wants 3.5 cu.ft. box tuned to 32 Hz.
Well, it's interesting, now that I'm into it a little and discovering that LE8T requires a relatively large box to fully exploit its capabilities, that JBL never made a system to accomplish that. Advertised as the most accurate of "extended-range" drivers, there was no product.
L44 certainly doesn't qualify, even with its passive radiator, and it doesn't perform to expectations; no room for a tweeter in there, either. There's room for one in L33, I think it is, with ducted port instead. Anybody know the size and tuning on that one?
Interestingly, the Hartsfield was originally available in an "economy" version with just an LE8T in it. That would qualify. Aquarius, too, probably, but LE8T was specially modified for that design.
So, unless there's some "magic" to be performed, we throw away the bass extension capabilities using it in a mini-monitor (use a mini-sub like Control SB-5, maybe), though it's obvious from the RTA curve above that LE8T-H, at least, is a worthy performer throughout the rest of the bass and midrange.
I'm gonna be real interested to hear how it plays in a "big" 3.5 cuft. box with 035TiA. Older alnico LE8T's like a smaller 2.5 cuft., apparently. By way of perspective, "bookshelf" L40 is about 1.6 cuft., too small. C56 seems more the appropriate size, though the 1968 brochure states LE8T "performance in minimum-volume enclosures cannot be approached by any other single loudspeaker ever produced."

The husband of a Virginia woman found safe Friday after vanishing for several days has been charged with assaulting her, police said Saturday.
Mark Ditto, 49, was arrested on domestic assault charges after the police search for his missing wife ended with her being found--reportedly at a motel. Connie Ditto, 41, disappeared Tuesday after sending her husband a bizarre text saying she was checking into a hospital -- a week after suffering a head injury.
“Officers found Miss Ditto and found probable cause to place domestic assault charges against Mark Ditto,” Henrico Police Lt. Sal Mul? told FoxNews.com Saturday.
He said the charges stemmed from an incident investigators said occurred a week prior to her disappearance.
Mul? could not say if the purported incident prompted her to disappear.
Cops took Ditto to the Henrico County jail after his arrest.
A police source told WTVR late Friday that the woman was found when a license plate reader captured her plate.
The source said the woman was located by police at the Extended Stay America Hotel in Innsbrook, north of Richmond. She then obtained an order of protection against her husband, the station said.
The police source said she told officers she was hiding from her husband because he had allegedly assaulted her, the station said.
Ditto speaking from the jail denied the allegations in a phone interview with a WTVR reporter.
He told the station the allegations stemmed from an incident on Aug. 6 when he said his wife was drunk and he and her daughters tried to take her car keys away from her so she wouldn’t leave the house.”
“I’m totally floored,” he told the reporter. “We as a family are very happy Connie was found unharmed. I’m very sad and sorry for her apparent health problems. I’m very disappointed by what she’s put her family through and all the people across the country who supported her search.”
Ditto had checked herself into the Patient First clinic in Short Pump around 9 p.m. Tuesday complaining of head pain.
"She said she wasn’t feeling well and was going to go to a walk-in clinic," her husband, Mark Ditto told WTVR earlier this week.
Ditto said his wife texted him from the clinic and told him told him she was being sent to a hospital for X-rays, but authorities say the mother of two left the clinic before her name was called.
The woman's cell phone was reportedly turned off after sending the final text message to her husband.
Ditto and her daughters drove to the clinic and area hospitals looking for her and filed a missing person's report after she could not be found.
"I am clueless as to what happened," Ditto said. "Why did she turn her phone off?"
He said his wife, owner of a hair salon in Henrico, had hurt her head in a fall last week. He feared she may have suffered an internal injury.

Sen. Roy Blunt, R-Mo., tried to steer clear Wednesday of a growing controversy over what role, if any, the chairman of the Missouri Republican Party had in an alleged smear campaign against the state's Republican auditor.
Questions about Missouri GOP Chairman John Hancock's future have increased, as Republicans cope with the fallout from allegations that the longtime Republican consultant engaged in a "whisper campaign" against Republican state Auditor Tom Schweich, who committed suicide last week.

Blunt would not say Wednesday whether Hancock should resign or keep his post as party leader.
"The state chairman is selected by the state committee, not selected by anybody else," Blunt said.
"I've been trying to focus on Tom Schweich and his family," Blunt added. "I frankly haven't thought about what should come next."
Schweich, 54, fatally shot himself last Thursday in what police say was an apparent suicide at his home in Clayton. He was in a bitter primary fight for the Republican gubernatorial nomination against Catherine Hanaway, a former Missouri House speaker and U.S. attorney.

Right before his death, Schweich called reporters for the Associated Press and the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, inviting them to his home for an interview that afternoon and saying he was going to go public with allegations that Hancock had been telling people Schweich was Jewish.
Schweich believed it was part of an anti-Semitic smear campaign against him by Hancock. Schweich was Christian, although he had some Jewish ancestry and had said his grandfather had long encouraged him to stand up to anti-Semitism.
Hancock has denied making anti-Semitic remarks, though he has said he mistakenly believed Schweich was Jewish and may have mentioned that in an offhand way to some people.
On Tuesday, former senator John Danforth, R-Mo., delivered a searing eulogy at Schweich's funeral, excoriating the tone of today's political campaigns and seeming to lash out at Hancock, although not by name.
"Words do hurt. Words can kill," Danforth said. "That has been proven right here in our home state. … The death of Tom Schweich is the natural consequence of what politics has become."
Schweich's former spokesman, Spence Jackson, said after the service that Hancock "should resign immediately" as Republican Party chairman.
At least one other well-known Republican echoed that call. David Steelman, the one-time GOP state House leader, tweeted this message Tuesday: "Danforth eulogy was beautiful powerful and disturbing. MoGOP needs to find its soul. To do requires new leadership."
In an interview, Steelman said he was deeply disturbed by the tactics and tone of the gubernatorial race.
"The Republican establishment had no room for someone as independent as Tom Schweich," said Steelman, the husband of former GOP State Treasurer Sarah Steelman. "Tom Schweich could not be bought, and the Republican establishment is interested in control."
Steelman also said its "absurd" to believe that Hancock didn't know Schweich was not Jewish. "He's an opposition researcher," Steelman noted of Hancock's work as a GOP consultant.
Hancock did not return a voicemail message on Wednesday.
Many in the GOP will be looking to Blunt, the state's top elected Republican, to be a guiding voice in helping the party move forward after Schweich's death. Steelman said Blunt's influence over Hancock's hold on the party chairmanship is paramount.
"Sen. Blunt is the most senior Republican in the state of Missouri. If he wants John Hancock to resign, John Hancock will resign," he said. "If John Hancock doesn't resign, I will assume that's because the senator does not want him to."
For now, Blunt is not saying one way or the other.
"I think I've answered the question," the senator said Wednesday when pressed on Hancock's tenure.
