Since I don't watch tv anymoer because it sucks, I missed that episode. But I get the feeling that perhaps the writers of Stargate have lost the plot. Wasn't stargate about a portal to other worlds? Not space ships and a cheesy star trek rip-off. But now we have these ascended folks, and the half\quarter-dead Anubis, and his giant mothership, and Daniel became a ghost. Due to tv sucking and me not watching it, I also missed parts of last season, I think I've missed serious chunks of the story. Like, for example, how Jonas Quinn came into being. I get the jist of it all, though.

I also don't understand how the weapon they used to defeat the replicators would be reliable. All it did was slow down time. Which means that the amount of time that they have left would be proportional to how far away from the box the evil guys were at the time. As it turns out, two of them were right next to it.
But I guess they still have thousands of years so our heroes will all be dead by the time the big blue spiders come back.

Incidentally, if you'll excuse that pun, did anybody tape that last episode? And is it still on at 730? I should really make an effort to watch more tv. I'm not a very good nerd anymore.

In more important matters - Do people (beside Gerald who we all know is not a real person) still post here? Chris, if you want your robbery to go anywhere then I think you'd better do something about it... maybe?

And the scifi thread? If somebody wants to post it's all open...

I'll stop ranting now and pretend that I have better things to do.

There was some use of the stargate in Stargate, but it was more of a means to an end, a plot vehicle. I will now sum up some less Star Warsy bits of Stargate if you like.

The good guys had eariler had an encounter (previous episode) in which someone had entered lots of Stargate coordinates and whatnot into the system back at home. They were mapping these out, but hadn't done anything about the majority of the planets yet. Last ep of last season, ascendant Daniel gets slapped down by the other people (probably on an even higher plane) for breaking the non-interference rules of the extraplanar peoples. On that ep, good guys find a tablet that talks about Mighty Artifacts of Doom in the Lost City.
Jonas (new season) surmises that Lost City could actually be City of Lost, and that when the Ancients got wiped out by a plague (and some ascended) they were building a mega city somewhere. People think that this place would be the last place on the list of gate addresses from early episode. They go there and find Daniel, but no Might Artifacts of Doom. Daniel (amnesiac) tells them that the interpretation of "City of the Lost" is wrong, so it serves the purpose of bringing him back to the plot properly without solving any of their problems.
On the way we still get some regular Stargate action, though. We meet a new alien race that uses funny terms to describe all of the things that only exist in the Stargate universe (calling the Stargate a "chapa'ai" (sp?), etc), while still speaking nice, grammatically correct and unmodified English.

AFAIK, Jonas came into the picture about when Daniel kinda left. SG-1 went to a planet where they were somehwere in the technological vicinity of us (maybe a bit less overall, though probably a bit more here and there). These people were experimenting with Naquadria, which is like Naquida, only not. Daniel saves some people, gets mega radiation poisoning and is dead from then until now. Jonas disagrees with some of the things that his society says, and goes to talk to the SGC and pretty much jumps into the recently vacated spot.

Yes, the method the people used to defeat the Replicators was pretty dang bad. Yes, they were right next to the machine, and yeah, it wouldn't be long at all before they got out. It seems that this was overlooked, or the time dilation in the field happens to a greater extent than we had first envisaged.

I don't believe Stargate is on at 7:30 anymore. I think it is on Friday at 9:30, or something like that.

I have it on good authority that the only reason the Matrix sequels appear to suck is because you don't understand what they mean. It apparently makes more sense if you understand exactly which mythical figures are represented by what. The fight scenes are allegedly just 'padding' for the religious allergy.

I should really get some more sleep, I haven't had a good night's sleep all week. Bed at 1am, up at 7am, never a good thing. I might go have a sleep after posting this, actually. It is currently 5:47pm on Saturday December 5.

I've got "Karma Police" by Radiohead, it's reasonably good. I should get some more, but I've been too busy getting other things, and killing my bandwidth with Korn Mp3s.

I haven't posted in a while, I've been busy with the packing (Less than 1 week now!), and too tired in the evenings to bother about writing about some fucked up robbery, or about how Chris thinks Nora doesn't like him, or about a space station that I would post in if I could bring myself to read every single post so that I can actually understand what's going on.

But hey, I might get around to it at some point, who knows? I was considering starting an "Incident Christmas Party" thread, where all the characters could come in and exchange (virtual) presents, but I'm just a lazy person. I've been reduced to using the internet for finding Korn songs and looking at bash quotes. At the present moment I'm downloading "The Longest 3 Feet", a Quake 2 map, from Fileplanet. I waited half an hour for the 500k file to start downloading, which is excessive. people should be queued up according to download size.

Has anyone seen Apocalypse Now? Excellent movie, I highly reccommend it. It's set in the Vietnam War. I won't say too much, but I do reccomend that you all watch it. If anyone wants a copy, I've got it on a decent quality (700mb) Divx.

Just played the Longest 3 Feet, it's a pretty entertaining map, if you've played The Longest Yard in Quake 3 before. There are a few differences, this map feels a lot bigger, and has more guns than the original, but would still be great at a LAN.

Which brings me to The LAN. It's probably going to be the week after Christmas, or even the week after New Years. Won't be before christmas, but It's almost certain to be happening at my new house. Can anyone offer up a venue if my place is unavailable? That would be appreciated.

That's all from me. Oh, I also downloaded Quake2 Done Quick2, which is reasonably good. Worth getting if you have Quake 2, just to see some of the neat Rocket Jumps and Double Jumps. The best bit would have to be sneaking up on an enemy, then crouching and firing upwards, causing them to bounce upwards, and then crouching and going underneath them. And blocking doors with dropped ammo is quite cool too.

I might post something in the Sci-Fi thread soon. Who knows? Stranger things have happened.

Perhaps is would do (for the sake of lazy continuity) for The Bomb to go off in the skyscraper on the space station in the Sci-Fi Gang War, resulting in a giant failure of heaps of stuff onboard, and the station itself crash landing in a desert somewhere, maybe next to a skateboarder.
I think an Incident Christmas Party would be something we could do. If anyone wants to give it a shot, I'm in too.

What are we meant to do to fill our time in the holidays, people? Are any good movies coming out soon? LotR: RotK, of course, but other than that it looks like I'm stuck doing next to nothing now. Suggestions?

EDIT: Okay, that was messed up. I think it is fixed now. (I thought that post looked a little smaller in Notepad than on the board.
On another note, if anyone can assist me with some onomatopoeia for the non spoken parts (music and the rest) of the song Freestyler, by the Bomfunk MC's, that would be greatly appreciated. I just can't seem to get the scratching to sound right.
Also, if we don't have a Christmas Party then I won't be able to make use of these, and that would be a big shame.

Otherwise, the holidays are for drinkng, obviously. And wasting your New Year's eve somewhere. I'm sure if you try then you could find somewhere to go, but then I guess you more than likely come under the umbrella heading "The Lazy Community".

I'm not sure a Christmas party would work. The last party we tried degenerated into me and Chris abusing each other, and then it got discounted.

Anyway, I don't know how much I'll post here over the holidays. After Christmas I'm buggering off somewhere, and I've no idea when I'll be back. Which, sadly, means that I'll probably miss a lot of Stargate. Still, if Gerald keeps putting episode reviews here I won't have to watch. Besides, from what I remember of later Stargate, I'm probably not missing much.

I shall go and post somewhere now, probably in the flame thread. That's probably about it. Sad, really.

Went and saw Revolutions and Underworld today. Revolutions is so much better if you don't take it seriously. As for Underworld, you MUST go see it. Great movie. I'll probably go a couple more times these holidays, if I EVER GET MY FUCKING PAY. I've sat through THREE fucking board meetings, and haven't gotten anything. She was SUPPOSED to bank the money last week. I haven't got SHIT. Fucking Board of Trustees.

I want to try starting another thread. I downloaded a script for a very short Live Action Role Play (that will "introduce new players to some of the most basic concepts of live gaming").

The script will adapt well to internet. Your character is given to you, and a short way into the story there is a scripted event which results in everyone's baggage getting mixed up. You only know what's in the bag you get (and your bag, which you don't get).

I will need 5 commited players. (4 if I play one).
