Captain Picard would never have gone in to fight. I don't know about Kirk. Just so you all know.

The martians appear to have a unified approach. As one would expect. Do the humans have a unified origin? Are my people going in to help the humans, or shoot them all to pieces and take the base for themselves? I am happy to be the representative of the empire ( can we call it something else with less starwars-ness, though?) but I'm not sure if I shoudl be working in a team with someone.

I haven't seen enough Star Trek to know what the captains would have done, but I'm sure a couple of runs through Generations would give me a few details. On the other hand, our own Kirk is more of a Vader (Helmet on) type guy (Appearance wise, at least), and Vader would have gone into a fight, although in the event of the battle going against him he would have done the good old sissy thing and ran away.
I think I will get into the gang war thread sooner or later, but I am thinking a bit about it first, and making sure I know what is going on before I jump in.
The "Empire" in the thread does point towards Star Wars, but that can't always be helped. Star Destroyers on the other hand...

I think all of the captains get into there share of fights. Kirk and Spock once distracted guards by teaching them the rules of a ridiculous card game, then overpowered them and escaped.

Perhaps Picard is a little less adventurous, but Picard and Kirk are old hat now anyway. As is the woman on Voyager, and the guy on Deep Space Nine.

The latest and greatest Star Trek is Star Trek: Enterprise and Captain Jonathan Archer gets into two phaserfights just in the pilot.

His Archer is a "damn the torpedoes" kind of guy, possessing Kirk's sense of adventure without his bullheadedness, and Picard's innate dignity without his philosophizing (and he looks really good in skivvies), so he decides to take his brand-spankin'-new starship and ferry the wounded Klingon home, at the mind-boggling speed of ... WARP FIVE!
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Best of all, Archer has a dog. If you're modelling yourself off a Star Fleet captain, you can't do better than the first one.

Enterprise is not great. Just so you know where I stand.

Picard is NOT old hat. Kirk, sadly, is dead.
Jonathan Archer, hell, I didn't even know his name until now.

Sisko tended to avoid battles, since Deep Space Nine was NOT an adventure series, at least not until right at the end when he had to fight Gul Dukat. But Sisko certainly wasn't afraid to get his hands dirty.

Janeway, on the other hand, got into a mess almost every episode (you get that when you're suddenly teleported to the delta quadrant by aliens) and had to fight the Borg more times than Picard himself. Eventually, the 'future' Captain Janeway (in the final episode) dies fighting the borg queen hand-to-hand.

Kirk went on ALL his own away missions. He took Spock with him. He usually took McCoy, as well. This was because the show was not about character development, it was about a spaceship that flew aroudn killing klingons. (duh.)

Picard didn't usually go on away mission for the simple fact that Riker always pointed out "The Captain's place is on the Bridge." and then went himself.
In 'Generations' he fights that crazy doctor guy with Kirk.
In 'First Contact' Picard grabs a phaser rifle and goes around shooting borg, becuae Riker is on the planet.
In 'Nemesis', he fights Shinzon with his bare hands and impales him on a pointed rod.
Picard also had an artificial heart because he'd gotten into a fight with a Nossican and got stabbed through the chest.

At the end of Nemesis Riker gets promoted to captain. Riker would go on ALL his own away missions, simply because THAT'S THE TYPE OF GUY HE IS.

Captain Tiberius Frost is a bit like Riker. (Besides, I wanted to be captain.)

He is not attached to the Empire. Secondly, the empire would not stop a rebellion by evacuating people. They would just blow them all up. They don't have medical ships. Hell, they don't even hae infirmaries. Star Destroyers were invented with one purpose in mind. (blowing stuff up, of course.)

*And lastly, Martin, Enterprise doesn't involve starfleet. It's set BEFORE the federation was formed.
    ================================================== =
    Onto more important matters...

Is Nora's ship Starfleet? (or, at least our equivalent of it) I guess I made it kinda obvious that the Excalibur was all that...

Anyway, I figure, perhaps they were the same faction, and it was a "Starfleet" (for want of a better term) starbase that was taken over by martians.
So the Excalibur was the closest ship, and got there first, and Frost took his team in to try and shut down the shields so that they could start evacuating people. (I suppose Frost got there in a shuttle). But the Martians discovered them and they got caught up in a phaser fight. Story begins-

I think it'll work ok if people keep posting here to explain their characters, we don't want alot of ooc comments in threads, I don't think.

    Castor:
The twins are not in the mission to save people. We are not connected to the starbase.
It is not the concern of the Galactic Empire if a puny starbase gets destroyed.

Although technically we shouldn't be here, since our technology only existed "A long time ago, in a galxy far, far away..." and not the 24th century.

But hey, who's up for a bit of originality?

Enterprise is _so_ starfleet. It is the flagship of the starfleet, in fact (at least, I am pretty sure that I am right. I think I read one once that showed us the first launching of the Enterprise, and there was starfleety stuff around.)

    Anyway.

How about my ship be in the Starfleet of the empire. If you like, Tiberius, you could be a rival empire ( Humans-Romulans). Or rebels. I don't know.

A good empire woudl be concerned about its citizens and its constructions. You have to start small and get bigger. otherwise you have martian rebellions on a regular basis.

Oh, and I have the captian of my ship too, just in case someone tries to take him.

So I am there in order to evacuate citizens of the Empire, and save our property from the clutches of the martian rebels. My ship is The Affirmation. The Empire is now called The Boundless Territory of Free Peoples, although it could be referred to as the Territory.

Tiberius is either another ship on our side, or another ship who wants to use this as a rebel base. Or a free trading post, i suppose.

My captian ( Wolfgang Hoffmann) has committed troops to the base, but there hasn't actually been evidence of them landing, yet.

I also said that there were one or two wounded coming from our side. We can either ignore this, or I can take a few of Tiberius's men and doctor them a bit.

Thats about all I have to say.

To make things easier, is it alright if I'm a member of the Territory? Otherwise I'm afraid we'll have too many factions. But The Territory is Starfleet, right? Just make our Captains (ie, Wolfgang and myself) friendly rivals.

    Uh...
    uh...
    um...
    yea.

OMFG! What a bunch of Sci Fi nuts - I can't believe you just said all that. What makes it worse is the fact that I understand what you are talking about. Are we all supposed to kill people in the Sci Fi Gang War, or is it one of those things where their is a rip in space-time or we discover some new species? Help me, do tell before I try and destroy somebody's ship.

I think you're pretty safe destroying ships.
But explain why you're trying to defend a base that doesn't belong to you?

The base belongs to the 'Territory', right?
btw, Nora, 'The Territory' sucks. Can we change the name?

I dunno - I guess something stupid like 'the base has a terrible power that must not fall into the wrong hands' or 'there is somebody onboard who is important to Clarke' kinda thing. I will make it up as I go. Furthermore, Chris Weasel is drinking a poor man's drink. HAHA!
