It's perfect for the app it was intended for, equipment behind perforated cinema screens.

Thank you Sir! I will look into some different types of paint. I also got a tube of "red lead" or bondo glaze as recommended by a buddy of mine. I also found one of the bottom panels is a little ...soft. I will have to lay a supporting sheet of plywood on top to help support it.....

Bit the bullet, said screw the red lead since there is no way I'm going to get these made into beauty queens, and figgered I'd slap on a coat of floor paint and see how they look. Think I'll do two coats.

    See for yourself.....

    Re: Progress....

Spot putty [red, green 'lead'] is fine for minor blemishes or blending a less than perfect overlap, but assuming these aren't for being banged about too much, skimming Phenopatch's Flex-All is my leveling/filling material of choice with its companion Custom Patch caulking compound for fine finish or minor glazing repairs: Search Results for pheno[patch at The Home Depot

With a dark coat, skimming with these white products will make finding all the imperfections a snap.

I wish I had a functioning camera to show you the before/after of my badly peeling, split, rotted, warped, fascia, soffit, gable end vents, trim/corner boards and ~500 board ft [so far] of ~35 yr old fiberboard siding to a 'like new' condition [at a glance anyway] once double coated with a quality exterior satin finish.

Of course some sections had to be replaced, but with these two products it makes blending in so-so fitting pieces easy.

    Per my sig...

I'm a Jack of all trades, Master of none. Sounds like GM could repair a show car. I'm looking for a running daily driver, and frankly I'm sick of Bondo/wood putty/filler, etc.

I knew this project was going to take awhile, since not only is it spare time dependent, but so far, fair weather dependent. I'm ready to get the paint done, and then brace it up so that I can start listening to them. So, with all respect, I'm pushing forward. I think the weather is supposed to be nice today. With any luck I can get most of the painting done....

Pix hopefully to follow this afternoon...

    Re: Per my sig...

Well, a rotted out heater core hose wound up superseding my afternoon plans. But despite other distractions, I finally got 2 coats of paint on these things.....

Very Nice! Are you going to paint the inside, too? I like bare wood on the inside of cabinets, but I see someone already put some paint on the inside.

What will you be loading into the cabinet? How about the port boards?
