Pinkston
ok the kid has been given a second chance but why is it a big deal to everyone what he does. the past is the past and coach adams and the school have given him a chance so what he does with it is all up to him but it is not up to others to decide the kids fate. the kid has talent and could very well go to the next level that is if he gets serious about his grades. i talked to malcolm yesterday his attitude has changed and he told me that he still has work to do but is thankful for gettin a chance. he said that he respected what phil had to do but was excited to play against the team PV. the game shall be a good one. and the best luck to the kid. everyone should not look at the past b/c people change so watch out for the next few weeks and we will see how pinkston and the raiders fair this season....

The VHSL might disagree with you on that one LOL

Re: Pinkston
and you probably are correct but the past is the past why not leave it in the past
-
Re: Pinkston
Oh I am not saying ANYTHING about what lead Pinkston to this point but now that he is here you have to play the cards you are delt
Honistly I do NOT know the living situation but seeing that Norton has pushed back his start date it makes one wonder if all there ducks were/are truly in a row

Second coming of the Jones boys? Hope the kid gets it together, but he had a chance and talent most of us could only wish for. Youth is wasted on the young. (stole that line, sorry Boney -can't remember where so you will have to hunt a link unless you think it is mine)

Re: Pinkston
He should be given a second chance at fixing his life, not playing a game. If Coach Adams, Norton, or the VHSL wanted him to truly learn from his mistakes then force him to endure sitting out a year.
-
Re: Pinkston
2nd chance? let's see, he was given 3 chances at pv, so this makes #4 if it goes through.......hmmmm
-
Re: Pinkston
Leave the kind alone. Would you like it if your child was being "bashed" on a forum such as this?
-
Re: Pinkston
yea lets just imaginarily forget about the kid... sorry that isnt happening. The "kid" made a mistake and people are going to know whats goin on.

Amen!

Re: Pinkston
The thing is it seems to be his suppoerters that keep bringing up 2nd and 3rd chances what I want to know is what shanagans Norton is tring to pull over on the VHSL to get him elagatable

Re: Pinkston
Surprised this thread hasnt been locked yet.

Re: Pinkston
I would very seriously doubt any, they know this thing is going to be under a microscope, if it is such a big topic on this Forum imagine how it is being talked about on the street as well. You know Phil is going to fight this tooth and nail and will try to do everything in his power to find what Norton is doing is illegal in some way. So I would imagine that the administration at JI Burton HS is doing everything in their power to make sure it is legit and are doing everything the VHSL is asking for and then some. I could be completely wrong and they may be sticking a middle finger towards the VHSL but I doubt it.
-
Re: Pinkston
Being legit and being the right thing to do are sometimes 2 different things. In another thread I spoke about 3 transfers from a TN school to a local school a few years ago. The paperwork was legit, but 2 of those three guys were cancers...and of those 2 one was on the cover of the times news for armed robbery last year and the other is a known thief as well. Jumping through hoops to get a kid eligible for a sport at a new school isn't always what the kid needs most.

Reading the VHSLs rules unless a parent is moveing inside nortons limits then he WILL NOT be elegable and everything I have heard on and offline is that it is NOT a parent he will be liveing with so unless the VHSL redefines its rules (and it COULD happen) he will not be elegable
-
Re: Pinkston
All they have to do is have the change of address on the paperwork and it'll prolly be approved.
-
Re: Pinkston
The Parent will have to do that.
-
Re: Pinkston
Good lord, wasn't this rehash about 100 times in the other freakin thread. Lock all of them, this is ridiculous.
-
Re: Pinkston
One of the more rediculous things I can remember for the kids coming over from TN was that they had to get VA driver's licenses...lol...it was just basically jumping through hoops. And Skulls, if ya don't like the topic of conversation, read something else. If everyone got on here and asked for every thread they didn't like to be locked, we wouldn't have a forum.
-
Re: Pinkston
I hear ya, but how many different threads can you start it in and hash, then rehash it somemore.
-
Re: Pinkston
I guess as many as you can whine about, ask to lock and whine some more.
-
Re: Pinkston
OK, lock this thread, lock this thread
You can tell it is football season, the threads and post get more ridiculous by the day.

Re: Pinkston
You're the one that seems to be having problems with the discussions. If I don't like it, I don't read it...but I don't go whining for it to be inaccessible for everyone else to read.

Yet you continue to come back to and continue reading these re-hashed threads that annoy you so.......
just don't participate. problem solved.

Re: Pinkston
prying into a kids personal life is rediculious but skulls id right the other thread covered every possible thing absolutley no need to have another one
-
Re: Pinkston
When you are discussing VHSL rules on transfers, you are dealing with a fuzzy gray area. I've not in one post pryed into anyone's personal life....just discussing the ins and outs of what I've experienced as far as dealing with transfer players, and some who wanted to be transfer players but didn't work out.

Re: Pinkston
Let's not pretend that everybody just closes their eyes, breaks into singing Kumbaya and all is well in the world.
It's a hot button topic, so naturally it's going to be discussed. I always find it funny how when stuff like this happens, some of the same people who scream hush up about personal stuff are some of the very ones who tried to question others and issues before.
I would assume that Norton is pushing the delay to make sure that everything is worked out, taken care of and organized. If something comes up and it doesn't work out, then he hasn't played, no forfeits, and hey the kid still has a chance to really undo some past mistakes at the school and in his life, which SHOULD be what matters, not if he's unable to play football.

Re: Pinkston
If they tested every HS athlete for any drugs, there wouldnt be teams left in the area.
-
Re: Pinkston
dickenson county has random drug testing...and just about all them boys pass it....so i disagree with that
-
Re: Pinkston
Its not hard to pass a drug test.

Dickenson County has a testing policy and i know Clintwood lost a few early on to it as did the other county schools (mostly due to the kids into that stuff did not come out) but after (6 years I think) of it I can say that it has been a very good thing.
All in all do not judge all area teams by what you see in your own
