I am glad you had a good time playing Baseball for a travel team and for your dad!! I have a question were all your team mates RICH?
No, thats what I really liked about the travelin' team. It didnt matter what your last name was, if you were good, you played. We ended up havin' a successful summer comin' in top 3 in alot of tournys.

I personally don't know Tim Baker but Coach Jones does and he says Tim is a class act. All about the kids, made the kids when he coached "Sr. league" to respect the game and thier self. I think he said he coached a 11 yr old travel team I'm a little past that now but sounds like someone I could play for. Coach Jones coached him in football in the 90's and truly thinks he is sincere. I got those other names from earlier post I was trying to get you ribbed up again....GO BLUE DEVILS
He is a good coach, he does a good job with the young talent they have. I have seen them many times hittin in our cage whenever their season starts..

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!! Finally someone that knows Tim and what he is all about. I have just been sitting back reading this mess and trying not to write to much. I do know Tim Baker personally, he and Tim Hubbard both have been absolutely wonderful to the kids and the parents of our travel team. Never once have I ever seen them do anything that would have made me think that they were not for the kids. I think that travel ball is just like anything else in these world, everyone has their own opinion about it. I just wish the LL, the old timers, the high school coaches, and everyone else would just get over it. Let the ones that want to play LL, play LL. Let the ones that want to travel, travel. And the ones that want to do both, do both. And not let their choices be held against them down the road.

Then tell him to act with the same decorum and respect he would usually carry himself with on here as well as with the kids. I'm telling you guys now--you gotta respect the board, unless you like having your words taken with a grain of salt in every convo you try to get in on.

I wonder were MR.Tim Barker, Tam Bicker, Tim Biakabutuka...whatever I need him, MLG is getting upset.

Get your own material. You're not Kenny Banya and I'm not Jerry Seinfeld--so stop. If you wanna be clever--be clever if it's in your nature.
A few things that have shined through in this thread...
1) nopainnogain can't be original, and he can't handle a conversation like a decent adult apparently.
2) Neddus04 is one of the products of a rarity, a travel team that was not run by rich kids or the elitists of a LL that wanted to branch off and do their own thing. He's a success story out of the numerous failures and burnouts that happen. PV's travel team must be doing something right...kudos to them...but my overall point still stands according to all I've seen in different areas--travel teams create cliques and cause a lot of kids to be left behind that could otherwise play ball with the best of them...just because they're not buddies with the core group or don't have enough money (which sometimes goes hand in hand).

and finally:
3) baseballmom--I'm sure you're dedicated and a great mother--I will never question that in a woman such as yourself. I'm sure the travel team in PV is doing something right--and I'm not going to question the two Tim's...whoever they are. If I had to give a percentage of successful travel teams that had no scandal with money or bias to a certain clique from what I've seen, I'd say it's 5% overall.
My qualms with your quote above still stand though--if you're going to play one...play one. Why you ask? Are you going to want to take your child to go see an orthopedic surgeon by the time he's 16 or 17 (if they're a pitcher)? Because that's the danger of playing in these leagues--lack of safety controls and limits for pitchers. I'm out for the kids best interests too--and a lot of the time, their best interest is to play LL where their well-being can be protected and monitored. I'm not saying "put them out there in football pads" as the illustrious Mr. Baker had to say. I'm saying use common sense...a kid shouldn't pitch close to 100 innings in a given week (which can happen if you play in both leagues), especially when their body is still growing, and stress caused on joints and bones in the different stages of development affect the course of how those joints & bones grow in...which could cause pain that even surgery would only lessen a little bit. It's sad to see a kid who has bad knees and shoulders by the time they're out of HS because they focused more on becoming the best in a sport, but only made it so far, and then they get those dreams of being great in college, semi-pro, or the minors go down the drain.
Play one or the other for the kids' sake. It not only helps your kid, but helps other kids get a chance to play if you decide to play one or the other...which in the long run helps your kid by giving more experienced teammates come the time after the developmental stages when it gets highly competitive (Senior League on up). As I said--AAU & other leagues are fine for older kids that are past development stage. Before that, they need to be in their local LL OR with a travel team, but not both. Too much stress on their younger developing bodies.

I thought I handled myself very well. But that would be a matter of opinon also. I think if you would reread your own post you will see that casting stones you might hit yourself..
You've got at least 3 to 4 people on this one thread who have been on this board for a long time, with the posts to prove it, and they're telling you you're not handling yourself correctly. This board is a lot about etiquette and having discussions without automatically breaking down into an argument. Sure, people get heated at one another...happens all the time--but for the most part, those get squashed pretty quickly by those that understand the board.
You just don't go butting into a LL meeting, speaking over the board members do you? No, you discuss what's going on and try to handle the situation. You're basically coming in and telling the people with the most experience on this board (not necessarily in life, but on this board) that they're wrong and our words have no basis. You catch a lot more flies with honey than you do vinegar nopain. Think about it.
All I know is that when people like myself, Moonlight, and mega first came onto these boards...we tried to show a lot more respect to the people that were here before us and read a lot more than we spoke. And when we did write something on here...it was well-thought out and pretty tactful. Now that people know who we are...sure...we'll take some liberties and be a little more combative and opinionated--but you can't lose respect for others on here and still get respect for your words or opinions--that is crucial. And remember this--you may be cussing or pissing off people that you actually know--but you don't know their screen names on here yet. Be careful what you say until you know who's who. You'll learn these relationships and hopefully make new friends via the board...I know I've gained several acquaintances at least through my tenure here thus far. Don't burn any bridges because you may need to cross them at one point.
Just a few ground rules--if you do say something over the top or edgy w/no basis, expect to get called on it. If you attack someone who's been on the board for a long time, expect about 3-4 more people to back them up before they will you. The only way that won't happen is if one of the older hands is out of line. If you've got something exacerbating, combative, or mean to say to someone...keep it to PM's. It will save from a lot more misunderstandings out in plain sight of the board just because someone may fly off the handle. You got a problem with what someone's saying--esp. if it's offensive or personally hurtful? Talk to a mod or admin if PM's haven't worked. And last but not least-- don't expect to get respect unless you show respect. That's the golden rule right there--you do that--things will be a lot easier on this board. That goes to all you newbies on here.
