Do the research. We set him to fight Iran (that was how the he got some of the arms) and Kuwait didn't exactly keep ALL their promises. Then there was the Kurds.
Stalin? Hitler? Pol Pot?
Is Saddam in that category? Thats large company to be placed in?

Couldn't have said it better myself. I don't think that there would have been any good conclusion to this matter. If Saddam had been dealt with (with a couple of bullets) initially, the world would have cried out at the fact that Americans didn't give him his day in court. What happened by keeping him alive and trying him is that the entire world has had time to form an opinion on what should be done. For extremists, this is planning time. No good will come of this. We have tried to plug the hole in the dam with a finger.
Hitler and Saddam seem to have some things in common. Esp. in the later part of Hitler's life. When the paranoia of losing his empire set in. The same with Saddam.
The only thing different was a World War vs. Hitler, we got just the US vs the radicals of Iraq, who are in their own Civil War.
In the end. Our troops are caught in the middle once again. Only thing. We don't have the go ahead to win at all cost. Different times.
Look, I know the research, Im asking opinions. That is all I know the History of all previously mentioned. Just wondering if people would put him in the same roll as Hitler/Stalin and to a degree of Pol Pot.
let's at least be respectful...dude was a terrible guy and did unspeakable things...but for those who are Christians, the Bible does not say "love thy enemy (except for Saddam...yeah, hate him)"
"An individual has not started living until he can rise above the narrow confines of his individualistic concerns to the broader concerns of all humanity."
-Martin Luther King Jr.
Only hate i have is, what this will bring, to the US troops in a land where they are born and bred to hate, the US and anyone who disagrees with them.
Saddam was a man who started out good and turned evil over his own greed. We the US help make him. And then we had to destroy him.
However, in making him, we help to make those who were loyal to him and to his cause later on.
Sometimes we are are our own worse enemy.
But this will cause high tensions in a country on the brink of all out Civil War.
And we have many troops caught in the middle of that Civil War that will feel the backlash.
When I start something I don't have trouble finishing it. Saddam would have been buried on the spot and the country cleaned out shortly, if I was calling the shots. Might have gotten to a little overkill . Gotta agree with elp6n- this could cause problems for Americans in Iraq.

The above article basically says that the Baath party are "determined to retaliate in all ways and places that hurt America and its interests if" Saddam is hanged. And as we know he was.
