to work backwards:
that video confirms that "beware" is most def fucking nasty. i'm far too hyped now for them to announce solo tour dates. should be a long wait even if it's short
as i said in our convo earlier, the promo?/album? art rocks
you've always surpassed me at deciphering lyrics so i'll go with you on your guesses
the mp3, though shit quality, was awesome. the video TOTALLY trumped that though. i can't believe either were available already. fucking technology
tool's newsletter rocked my cock right out of a tube sock. gonna have to start reading them. please do post when new ones come around if you remember to for my forgetful ass
finally, fav 'tones' picks are gonna have to wait til tomorrow cause i can't fucking hear shit in hear today with the crew of faggots my roommate assembled directly up my asshole. fucking hell. here's another thing though, what's your fav team sleep track?

The rest of you see that ^ ? That's how you play nice.
I'll let you know about the Tool newsletters and I'll continue to post/speculate further Def news.
First let me just say something about Team Sleep before I post my fav. I was really sick when they came around and had to give up the ticket, you guys went and came back and all kinda said it was lame but the drummer was good. Finally, after listen to my deftones albums repeatedly for 4 months, curiousity got the better of me and i bought the album. Long story short, I'm seriously pissed I didn't get to see them. Not a bad song on that album or the demo album.
For favorite song I have to say Ataraxia solely because of his vocals and lyrics, however Ever since WWI is probably the prettiest song on the album.

it's funny you should put it that way. i got the album online right around the release. i forget if it was before or after. i liked it then and thought it was totally solid for any group, esp. for a first title. my only critique was really that i liked all the deftones records better. if you want to judge it for what it is - another project - i really like it.
that said, the problem with the show wasn't the material. first of all we had to sit through the two fucking worst openers for a reasonable show i've ever fucking seen. these fuckers played anime filmstrips in front of them in a screen obscuring the stage that appeared to be editted together by a fucking 8 year old. the music wasn't much better than the visuals but would have been forgivable probly if it wasn't for throwing pointless ass images in my face. for perspective, these openers pissed me off to a level only precedented by the datsuns (pixes tweeter camden show) and enon (black dice church show). if you've heard either of them, well, yeah.
after totally ruining my interest in hearing music with those acts, team sleep came on and didn't sound BAD persay, but certainly wasn't up to par with the tightness of a successful nat'l tourer that i'd put any dough behind. my theory is that it wasn't a massive tour and besides recording the album, due to other projects all the members were involved in, maybe there was limited time to play together before the gig or something. it just wasn't rock solid like on the record. also, could have had something to do with the troc's sound which has never been the best (nor any louder than my fucking car stereo, practically).
it was cool to see chino and the whole group, esp. now that i'm listening to hella records. that man is pretty pretty pretty nasty. so there you go, feel appeased and see them next time around assuming the rumorred 2nd album gets made and toured on.
regarding their "demo" you referenced, do you have something i don't or do you just mean the first avail. recording of them, which was the 2001-12-18_-_The_Cactus_Club gig?
i have to agree that atraxia is sick. the fat ass bassline completements the effect used on the vocals really well. i've got to say i most like the lyrics themselves of WWI and i do agree it's the prettiest track. the delivery on atraxia is my fav though vocally. as far as an overall standout i've got to go with live from the stage. that song rocks! atraxia is a close second then everything basically falls in more or less evenly after that together. i do like paris arm a bit too though. that's a quite different track.
also, the fact that there's tracks called both princeton review and delorian slays me. am i the only one?
i'll log back on for my 'tones picks in a little bit.
i just did a mix with Mark Erelli. anybody heard of him? i hadn't. i don't recommend him but i also don't mind some of what he played. not so into the vocals - he's a little bit coutry, but from the area, so basically a fake. otherwise it's nondescript and fair.

"In order to save me the pain of individually responding to the hundreds of emails I?ve received in the past week about these so-called leaked track listings and other message board rumors (like Cheech, I?ve a lot of shit to do today), I?ve decided to post my reply to one that this typical of the others with hopes that it will curtail the amount of querist clones flooding my inbox: With regards to your question pertaining to ?leaked track listings?, perhaps the band members should thank those individuals responsible for such pettifoggery (as someone?s grandfather once called it), saving them the time and energy of fabricating their own spurious album title and track listings (not to mention the expense of actually recording a decoy ?Toolish? album ? which would be delightfully paradoxical and astoundingly foolish) just to thwart the best intentions of potential bootleggers. I?m afraid the guys have really thrown you a curve this time, as there are currently no song titles with decidedly ethereal names like ?Aldaraian?, ?Mandalic?, ?Hyparxis?, etc. The new release is NOT Lateralus II, and the track listings reflect an altogether different mood. In the Kerrang ? interview (excerpts of which have been posted on the internet), Danny is quoted as saying ?This is our blues record. We?re singing the blues.? (NOTE: you might recall that in the January newsletter, Obelisong, the spirit evoked during a Ouija Board Working, when asked what the name of the vocalist in the band was, replied BLUES BIALO, meaning blues voice.) Keeping this in mind, the actual track listings are far more ? how should I put it ? down to earth than ?Laiad Kayenth?, ?Paramnesia?, ?Luminesce Kaon? and other ?painted sepulchers, and any would-be ?Cagliostros? out there might want to factor this in (as opposed to using Lateralus as a template) when concocting any future bogus titles to disseminate on the web (for whatever reason)." -BMB
