they fired him for insubordination-gave him his coaching bonus for this year and let him go
i couldn't believe that they sincerely listened to those kid's and their parent's testimonies and still voted unanimously to fire him, that showed no compassion whatsoever.
A person failed to comply with the direct instruction of a supervisor (more than once according to the article). In many jobs, just one time is enough to get the boot. In the grown up world of work you have to follow the rules.
As I've said more than once, even those who are put on a pedestal can fall.

I have one question even though I don't have a dog in this hunt. Why would he not follow the orders he was given to keep this person in question away from the program? I may have missed it in an earlier post but there has to be a reason.

Compassion means nothing. Godsey didn't listen to what the superintendant told him to do, and he was fired rightfully so. It doesn't matter though it wasn't his coaching that won championships it was his talent.
