    Re: basketball

Forrest is currently recovering from a broken ankle.

But yeah, I believe they return 3 starters from last year.
    Brickey and the two Allen's.

I think they'll be pretty good.. We play them twice this season.

Wow. I didn't realize Forrest was on the shelf. Hopefully, he'll be back before the end of season. He's a good player.

I enjoyed watching Josh and Bud play basketball.

If the young talent that played on the JV team last year develops, this could be a really good team down the road.

Coach Jervis told me he broke it during a jv football game.
He said he should be ready by the time practice starts.

    Re: basketball

The restructuring and addition of the new CMD really changes the basketball picture in the LPD. Gate City traditionally led both the girls and boys' competition. Now, the LPD is kind of wide open in my opinion. I do think JJK should be a favorite among the girl's teams.

The Castlewood Lady Devils had a pretty good team last year as well. Do they return most of their starters this year?

Their bench isn't bad either. D2 will maybe a toss up depending upon what VA High can do. I do believe JJK's girls should lead the way though. </div></div>

Yes, Castlewood returns everyone this year (assuming they choose to play).. They had no seniors and only 1 junior.. The rest were sophomore and freshmen.. I think Rye Cove returns a lot this year also but one girl will be out with an injury.

The CD Girls Basketball may be VERY good this year from what I am being told from the folks in Nora, Ervinton will have the Girls team to beat for the next 3 or 4 years in the Cumberland and MABYE the region

Did all those girls stay at Ervinton? Who is coaching their varsity this year?
