Tazewell should be Region C if they did drop.

    Why?

They would be closer to Lebanon and Honaker (and Richlands if they drop as well)

Could be that there may be another district shakeup if it were to happen

Why not? They're closer to Wytheville than they are Norton.

IMO every school this side of I-77 should be Region D.

Tazewell in Region C would be no different than Lebanon and Castlewood being Region C once upon a time.

Rye Cove's girls should be the team that benefits the most from the D1 and D2 splits. They just couldn't get by JJK or GC, but have been one of the top teams in the area. They return 3 starters, would have been 4 had Edwards not tore her ACL in summer camps. Their bench isn't bad either. D2 will maybe a toss up depending upon what VA High can do. I do believe JJK's girls should lead the way though.

I wouldn't be averse to that proposal.

    Re: basketball

I don't think Appalachia is on anyone's radar yet.

But, they return two - maybe three - starters that I'm aware of. Appalachia's JV team also won the district last year. I think some of those players should be moving up to varsity. Two players to keep an eye on are brothers Forrest and Mason Stuart.

Of course, a good JV doesn't always mean a good varsity team, but there's some really good talent in some of these kids.
