So it's the whole "if you don't want to go to war, then you're gay" defense is it...that's so Family Guy. LOL
I don't support someone just because they say that someone might be doing something that could be detrimental to my way of life, possibly. That's what Dubya went to war with, a possibility that someone may strike somewhere somehow in some way at some time. So we have to fight and keep fighting no matter what until he says we're safe. The American people and troops have been out and out lied to. Republican or Democrat, you can't deny that's the truth. And it wasn't Bush that was being lied to, he was hearing what he wanted to hear. In fact, he was told by terrorist intelligence that Iran was harboring Al Quaeda troops, not Iraq. And what did Bush do? He decided that he had had enough of bombing the crap out of Afghanistan, and realized that the American people would get behind fighting someone like Saddam, which I agree...he did not need to be in power. BUT--if we're fighting the war on TERROR...go after the terrorists! Not dictators who have little or no ties to the people who did what they did on 9-11. The Iraq war had a purpose, just not the one that needed to be taken on at that point in time. Now, we're depleted in terms of troops, and we've lost a lot of American lives. And guess what--the terrorists have been recruiting more and more to join their Jihad. So they're stronger now. NOT A SMART MOVE.
What the Republicans are asking everyone to do is act before thinking through and having all the facts. That is NEVER a smart thing to do. You do have to take some action sometimes however, and that's the mistake that the Democrats are making. They know some of the facts, but a lot of the truth is being sat on by the President and his staff. Thusly, they can't make a solid decision in their minds to go to action. THAT was the controversy--not that they were wusses and didn't want to fight if the war was justified, it's that they wanted to make sure they were going in knowing what to expect.
I'm tired of the southern macho redneck mentality that you have to fight or your a scared p****. That's the reason why the south has turned primarily Republican as opposed to being mostly Democratic and caring about the consequences of what the government does--because they don't want to look like the "weaklings who don't want to fight". The whole reason why the "South" even has a mentality of sorts is because they didn't trust central government to make all the decisions and let things be as they are. That's what the Civil War was all about...states' rights, not slavery. The Bush White House people are basically telling us in the south that they're running things in DC and there's nothing we can do about it but suffer through and if we go to war, to die.
I wish a lot of people, especially in the US, especially in the South, and especially around here, would get off of worrying about hunting, owning guns, and not wanting to be thought of as wussified; I wish that people would simply think before they do and don't follow what is given blindly. Ask questions. You might be suprised at the answers.
And I'm not trying to piss anyone off, and this is not meant towards any poster in general, it's just my opinions.
