There are some Appy students who will despise the ground you walk on the minute they find out you are from PV but, they're young. I'd say that some of the parents may influence that. People take high school rivalries way too far. That can be potentially dangerous.

Nobody in college or the real world will care how good your football team is or what kind of tradition your school has in athletics.


I can see it now in an Education course "Write a 9 page paper about teaching." "My high school had a great athletic tradition. (then 10 pages about that and hating Powell Valley.)" "Sir, this is about your teaching philosophy. I don't care about your high school athletic program nor do I care about the rival school."

same teachers yes but there will b a variety of new electives and other courses offered. With there just being 3 school there is a more possibility of more college classes for students. Face it, the education will be a much better with 3 schools than 6

You could already go to college and take dual enrollment classes while still in high school. Bad arguement.

Dual enrollment is not attainable for everyone. The students have to apply for admission, pay tuition (not all of it but they still must pay - I asked the school board about this), they must buy their textbooks, and they must have their own transportation.

Those classes that some students have the privilege of enjoying dual-enrollment for should be offered to ALL students in the public high school level.

As far as I know, that is why they call it dual enrollment. Call and ask, see for yourself.

It is attainable for all too...I taught it for 4 years and the most I ever saw a kid pay was 15 dollars cuz MECC offered financial aid to the kids in the form of tobacco money and coal severence. You do have to pass a placement test as well. Like I said before, consolidation will do nothing but offer new buildings...that's it. Most schools have the texts..the one's that don't, financial aid pays for most of that cost as well.

You're buying cars for them to get there? Paying their insurance and gas?

Forcing dual enrollment in order to get higher level classes is not fair and equal at all.

It is offered, it is no different than giving grants and cutting them off at an income level. But this isn't much of a point anymore, is it? Do you think high school classes will transfer to college? For years you had to be careful what you took at MECC if you were going somewhere else.
